Meredith Coke
Accounting Administration, Payables
I graduated from UTC in 2001 with a degree in Mass Communications. I wanted to be
a TV reporter. While trying to decide what I was going to do career-wise, I took
a receptionist job at the Corker Group in the fall of 2002 and started taking classes
at Chattanooga State to obtain a 2nd degree in graphic design. Future plans are
to return to Chattanooga State to obtain a degree in Accounting.
While a receptionist with the Corker Group I started helping with accounts receivables
and then payables. Eventually they both became full time duties while still working
at the front desk. I enjoyed accounting and was very good at it.
Eventually, as the company grew, so did my responsibilities. When Mr. Luken bought
the company in 2006 a new receptionist was hired and I worked in accounting full
time, and assisted with front desk duties. Now my primary duties are Accounts Payable
and invoicing overtime utilities and Operating Costs. I still assist with receivables
and other office duties when needed.
CEO Lynda Childress says: "When I first met Meredith she was very timid and shy.
She was hired to be our receptionist and did a wonderful job. I soon realized that
she had the ability to learn quickly and multi-task well. Doing Accounts Payables
for Luken Holdings is very complicated as we have so many properties and vendors
that we work with. I have never met anyone with the ability to grasp the concept
as quickly as Meredith - and do it correctly. She quickly became my "right hand"
in accounting. She is a wonderful asset to our TEAM here at Luken Holdings and is
very pleasant to work with, always having a gentle smile."
